Sixth class recently went on their annual trip to the Christchurch Diocesan Service. It was a lively service that contained great stories, hymns and even Samba drums! We got to visit the crypts under Christchurch after the service and then went to Dublinia where we experienced Viking and Medieval Dublin. A great day was had by all. All schools to remain closed on Tuesday

ALL schools in the country are to remain closed on Tuesday, 17th October.

As Storm Ophelia continues to rages Department of Education officials have decided that for safety reasons all schools should remain closed for another day.

In response to the imminent Storm Ophelia, the Department of Education and Skills has confirmed all schools, colleges and other education institutions will remain closed tomorrow.

“This decision has been made following discussions with members of the Government Task Force on Emergency Planning and in light of the advice from Met Éireann on this unprecedented storm”, the department said in a statement this evening.

Met Eireann this evening issued a nationwide red weather warning.

The issue of red level severe weather warnings implies that recipients take action to protect themselves and/or their properties; this could be by moving their families out of the danger zone temporarily; by staying indoors; or by other specific actions aimed at mitigating the effects of the weather conditions.
