We are having a Fancy Dress Day on Friday 28th of October in Aid of Elaine Jones’ Celtic Cross school in India. We are asking each child to bring in €2 for the collection and to dress up as his/her favourite character on the day. The annual Diocesan Service for 6th class was held in Christchurch recently.  The pupils were accompanied by Mrs. Cole, Mrs. Griffin and Rev. Cliff.  After the service we were allowed tour the crypt in Christchurch.  Here the pupils saw a selection of interesting items including Tudor costumes and a mummified cat and rat!  An enjoyable day was had by all.

3rd-6th class were delighted to receive an invitation from Athy library to have a talk from Oisín Mc Gann. Oisín is an Irish author and illustrator. He writes in a range of genres for children and teenagers, mainly science fiction and fantasy and has illustrated many of his own short stories for younger readers. His talk offered tips and encouragement to all of our pupils on how to improve their writing skills.

On Wednesday 5th of October we held an Open Evening for members of the public to come and view our new school. It was great to see so many current and past pupils attend. Our guests were very interested in looking at photographs of the Model school and its pupils from years past. Thank you to the parents association for organising refreshments on the night.

Hope you all had a lovely summer break. School will reopen on Tuesday 30th August at 8.40 am, (junior infants 9.30 am). Closing time for our first day will be 12 noon, (11.30 for the new Juniors). Pupils should line up in their classes at home time. Please refer to the letter sent home in June for further details. We are looking forward to meeting our new children and all others on Tuesday. Those of you who have volunteered to help with the move, please come to the new school at 2pm this Saturday 27th.
